Can Hamsters Eat Meat?
Even though hamsters are mostly given vegetarian diet, these cute animals are actually omnivore. It means, they can safely eat meat too. However, there are some things you need to be aware of before giving meat to your hamsters.
Firstly, not every meat is good for hamsters. You can give them cooked chicken or cooked beef, but you need to avoid pork. Actually pork is not exactly deadly for hamsters. But it has high cholesterol level which can affect their health negatively. Please note that the meat must be cooked. You should never give uncooked chicken or beef to the hamsters because the bacteria in uncooked beef will be dangerous for hamsters.

In addition, you should never give your hamsters salted or seasoned meat. Salt is very dangerous for hamsters, especially when it is consumed in high amount. Consuming too much salt can cause dehydration and the effect can be really fatal for hamsters. The hamsters will drink plenty of water, and since salt retains water, instead of being digested, the excessive water will make the hamsters bloated.
Can Hamsters Eat Pringles?
Hamsters love to eat everything and they certainly will not say no to the delicious Pringles. Even though the taste definitely appeals to your hamsters, Pringles is not a safe food for the lovely rodents. The reason is exactly the same with why you cannot give salted or seasoned meat to your hamsters. It is because Pringles contain extremely high level of salt.
It doesn’t mean that Pringles, or salty food in general, are totally banned for hamster. As a matter of fact, hamsters still need to consume salt to grow well. But hamster’s body can only tolerate very small amount of salt and Pringles simply contain too much salt than what the hamsters need.
So, if you want to give Pringles as snack for your hamsters, make sure to give just a very small amount. One piece of Pringles per month is more than enough. If you give them more than that, the hamsters will have too much salt in their system and it definitely will not be good for their health. If you have given a piece of Pringles to your hamsters, then make sure you don’t give them other foods that contain salt for the day.
